So, I did a thing this week. I decided to delete the Facebook and Instagram apps from my phone.
I haven’t deactivated my accounts. They are still there and you will still see me post there (probably much less on my personal wall) from time to time. But, it was getting to where I would use these apps to “numb out” – Any time I began to feel the least bit uncomfortable or bored I would go to them to seek comfort or procrastinate.
Just think for a moment, if you couldn’t check social media or your messages, or read anything online, what might you do instead? You might open your awareness to everything around you right now, keeping your attention on that for a few minutes. You might check in with yourself and notice what you’re feeling, and let yourself actually feel it. That might not be a pleasant feeling if you’re feeling irritated, anxious, or insecure. That’s okay. Feel it anyway.
I will still post to my pages (mainly NWGA Coaching & Hypnosis and Shane Clements Art) sometimes and live guided mindfulness exercises in my private group, but most of my online activities will be focused more on my platforms. The tiny parts of the World Wide Web that belong to me.
Here, at Northwest Georgia Coaching, and at Documenting Humanity is where you will find me, my thoughts, art, photos, and other content that I love to create.
Make Sure to Keep In Touch
I would love to have you join me here, but I understand I’m not everyone’s cup of tea (or coffee, if you know me you know I had to put coffee in here somewhere). I figure if you like the content I create, and the books I recommend, you will drop in from time to time to read them, and maybe leave me a comment here or there.
And if you really want to make sure you don’t miss anything(you never know what kind of free goodies I may send out), you can always sign up to get on my email list.
